Authentic Relating is the practice of expressing your true emotional experience in the company of others, in a way that enables you to create authentic connections. The practices create a safe, intentional space, where you can drop your conditioned relational habits, and learn to relate with yourself and others in a deeper, more meaningful way.

The session will be led by a member of the community- Vicki Thomas, who teaches Mindfulness and Compassion in Bristol.

Vicki says: “What I love about this practice is that it gives me a safe space to feel more connected to the person I'm talking to, and how it's helped me to be more authentic in lots of my relationships”.

The exercise she will lead, involves 2 or 3 people taking it in turns to respond to a list of questions, while the other person/ people listen with their full attention. As this is a beginner’s session, there will be a range of questions available to choose from, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to engage at a level they feel comfortable with, and there will be an option to pass on any questions.

Example questions are:

Tell me about a place that you have visited that you really loved and why.

Tell me about a famous person - alive or dead - that you really wish you could meet and talk to and why.
